This swimming pool was in dire need of refurbishment. It was originally built as a concrete pool but had suffered years of neglect. Over the years subsidence had occured around the swimming pool and as a result a large crack had formed in one of the walls. This meant that the swimming pool was losing alot of water. It had an original Roman End installed with one step to gain access into the pool. This was totally unfit for purpose and didn't meet Health & Safety requirements for a commercial swimming pool. The main remit for our work was to repair and refurbish the swimming pool so that it complied with all current and anticipated HSE requirements, but at the same time, making it far more asthetically pleasing. After discussions with our client's, it was decided that we would turn the pool into a vinyl liner swimming pool. This overcame the problem with the pool leaking. We also decided to add a new fibreglass Roman End with anti-slip steps. To give this pool the 'WOW' factor we had an inground spillover spa made especially in the states which was to sit alongside the pool and allow a gentle cascade of water to flow into the pool.
* A 1.2m constant depth swimming pool with a vermiculite concrete base
* A new preformed Roman End with grabrail
* New precast white bullnosed copings
* 0.75mm Aquamarine liner with 8mm foam underlay
* Two new modern Aquagenie skimmers
* Addition of a new underwater light
* 5 seater Spillover Spa
* New plumbing running between the swimming pool / spa and the plant room
* New plant equipment for the spa which included a booster pump and commercial air blower
Work started with the repair of the cracked wall. The existing circulation fittings, stairs and copings were all removed and we reprofiled and skimmed the base to give a constant depth of 1.2m. A new fibreglass Roman End was then installed alongside an underwater light, two Aqua Genie skimmers, new white copings and a grabrail.
The spa area was excavated and the shell mounted within a stone wall with a matching cascade into the pool. New plumbing was then run in trenches into the plant room. The plant room had to be re-designed to accomodate the new spa equipment. The liner was fitted and the swimming pool and spa filled with water.
All of the equipment was then tested and the pool handed over with training and instructions to our client.
